Qwestrum — Career Profile
Consultant Physician | Healthcare | Bengaluru, India
MBBS to MD to consultant physician — sharing my lived career experience across emergency rooms, ICU rotations, and clinic mornings. This career story is for medical aspirants who want the hours and the humanity included.
There are too many polished LinkedIn posts and too few real career stories. This is mine, with the doubts intact.
IIT Delhi — Education
Five and a half years that felt like a decade. Cadaver dissection in first year, ward postings by third, internship by fifth.
Volume of material was the first hurdle. Sleep deficit was the second.
Medicine is pattern recognition built from honest hours. Communication with patients is a curriculum nobody teaches but every senior expects.
Cleared MBBS with distinctions in medicine.
Clinical examination, anatomy, pharmacology, patient communication, ward rotations
Apollo Hospitals — Higher Studies
Three years of MD residency. Half ICU, half general medicine. Wrote two case reports.
36-hour shifts. Watching a patient die on rounds and presenting to the consultant in the next breath.
Compassion is not soft — it is what stops doctors from becoming cynical by year ten.
Critical care, ECG interpretation, mentoring interns, research methodology
Apollo Hospitals — First Job
First three years post-MD. Built a small but loyal patient base. Took night calls willingly because they sharpened decisions.
Pharmaceutical pressure to prescribe. Holding the line costs business; not holding it costs ethics.
Most patients want to be heard before treated. A four-minute consult done well beats a fifteen-minute one done distracted.
OPD management, clinical decision making, team leadership, second opinions
Manipal Hospitals — Promotion
Senior consultant role with a department of six. Teaching residents now, which is its own clinical practice.
Burnout among colleagues is real. Building a sustainable practice without losing edge.
Health-care is a team sport disguised as individual brilliance.
Choose a hospital culture before a salary. The pace will follow you home.
Multi-specialty coordination, mentorship, complex case management, hospital protocols
